IBRAHIM Ibn Adham

SUFI FROM BEHIND the legendary

Known by the name of Ibrahim ibn Adham Adham or. His full name is Ibrahim ibn Adham ibn Yazid ibn Jabir ibn Mansur (Abu Ishaq) at-Taimi al-Ijli. An expert on Egyptian mysticism, says Ibn Adham died in 161 H (777 AD) when it joined the battle against the Byzantine empire. He was buried near the fort Suqaim, a region located where the Byzantine empire.

In the childhood and before becoming a Sufi, he lived in the neighborhood of the royal family, including her father the king in Khurasan (Iran). After a Sufi, he went looking for a place that suits him. At first he went to Iraq. But there he stayed for a while because it is not suitable for life. Later he lived in Syria in a long time and never returned to Khurasan until the end of the verse. Syria according to his confession, is a pleasant place for himself and his place in accordance with the guidance of his religion.

He had religious visit other countries such as Alexandria in Egypt, Jordan, Basra and Makkah. Around the year 744 AD he went to Mecca for pilgrimage. On the way to Mecca, he stopped at Kufa and met a woman named shalihah that later in kawininya.

Early kesufiannya has its own distinct story with other Sufis. In the story of Ibn Adham was a happy hunting. When he hunted up the horse, he was in the Startle with a rabbit that suddenly surprised him, he then led his horse toward the approaching beast. Sauara sounds from way back, "this is not for thee and not with this make you ordered". Ibn Adham searched the left and right, but he did not see anyone. Therefore, he said, "May Allah melaknatmu, yes the devil." When he led his horse came the voice again. Sepontan Ibrahim replied, "By Allah SWT, not for this I am created by God, and not with this too I was told." As soon as he came home, and when he got home he had left his horse and met his father's cattle herdsmen. He asked the robe and gloves used in exchange for a shepherd to his clothes. He left his country to go herding Iraq.

As a Sufi, he did not embrace the concept of at-tawakul wa al asbab Tark (fear of Allah hdan leave causality), but he adheres to charity wa al-al-bi al asbab akhz ma'a at-tawakul 'ala Allah (try and embrace kuasalitas accompanied by tawakal to God). This is demonstrated in the reality of everyday life. Apart from worshipers, obedient to God, he also made efforts to meet the necessities of life, like farming. It illustrates that he was one of happiness and pleasure given by Allah SWT. He said, "if the king and his children know that there is happiness and pleasure to us, then they will be tortured and beat us with swords because of enjoyment of life that we feel." He's the poor who do not have anything, but often fasted either in a state of the traveler as well as believers.

Famous motto in this regard: "If you happy with what is, then you are happy. But if you are sad because they do not exist, then you get hurt. "
